Incorporate anti-inflammatory spices like turmeric, ginger, cumin, and coriander. Avoid inflammatory triggers such as processed foods, refined sugars, excessive dairy, and deep-fried items, which can all aggravate Pitta and create Ama.

2. Nurture Your Gut Health

A healthy digestive system (Agni or digestive fire) is paramount in Ayurveda. Dr. Sharma highlights that impaired digestion leads to the build-up of Ama, a primary cause of inflammation. She suggests starting the day with warm water and lemon, incorporating fermented foods like homemade curd or kanji in moderation, and using digestive spices. Eating mindfully, chewing thoroughly, and avoiding overeating also significantly support Agni and prevent toxic build-up.

3. Prioritise Stress Management

Chronic stress is a major contributor to inflammation, triggering hormonal responses that can keep the body in a constant state of alert. Dr. Sharma recommends daily practices like yoga, meditation, and pranayama (breathing exercises) to calm the nervous system. 4. Optimise Your Sleep Quality

Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep. Establishing a regular sleep schedule, creating a peaceful bedtime routine, and avoiding screens before bed can greatly enhance sleep quality. An evening self-oil massage (Abhyanga) with warm sesame oil can also be incredibly soothing and promote deeper sleep.
